Firstly, we would like to thank you all for your patience, understanding and support over these past difficult months. We have all been living in an extremely challenging times.
As you know, West Devon have not only been dealing with the current COVID-19 pandemic but in addition, the sudden closure of the Life Centre for remedial work. These are both extremely complex issues which are fast changing and unfortunately, out of our control.
Over the past few months we have liased tirelessly with representatives from the Life Centre and Plymouth City Council to negotiate a date in which we can return to court. The negotiations centred around us returning to the venue sooner than the anticipated April 2021 reopening. At the time of these negotiations, the government advice was that we could participate in indoor sport albeit abiding to the new covid safe rules of Netball. We were successful with our negotiations and were hoping to bring some good news to members this week.
However, as a result of the new government guidelines announced yesterday this is unfortunately now not possible. We know that this news will not be welcomed as members are eager to return to court but this cannot happen until it is deemed safe to do so. We all have an important role to play in helping to stop the spread of the virus.
We will be waiting with fingers, toes and everything else crossed for the government to be able to relax the guidelines in the hopefully soon future. Members should feel assured that when this time comes we have made the necessary arrangements to get you back on court as soon as possible.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your support and support to one another during this difficult time. A special thank you to Karen Jones, Marc Whaley, Maddy Doyle and the support from England Netball for all their hard work along with the West Devon Committee.
We’ll be back before you know it and until then, remember we’re here if you need.
